All about me...

My exploration with color and surface has helped me move into a harmonious relationship with design and the process of forming clay into objects. My ideas often come to me from an investigation of a technique or forming process for a particular vessel. Certain attitudes have emerged from the mass of ideas and information I have collected and this attitude wanders through my work with many variations. I like to use colors, patterns, textures and structures from nature to create a fusion of organic and man-made forms. I continue to make an intense commitment to the quality of my work and know the limitations of the tools and materials, yet I continue to constantly push the use of these tools and materials to discover new ways of creating with clay.
Much of my knowledge about clay and art has come from instinct, classes, experimenting on my own, and attending workshops over the past 30 years. I am especially grateful for the community college experiences and the dedicated instructors, and for the encouragement of many well-known artists and potters I have had the good fortune to know.
In 1996 I was accepted into the Illinois program. You can find my work at the Rend Lake/Southern Illinois, & Springfield galleries as well as in the Artisan Shop in the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago. I participate in the Illinois Artisan sponsored Art Sprees several times a year which are help in the lobby of the Thompson Center.
